Adult & Baby Swimming Lessons

Starting swimming lessons from a young age has a whole range of benefits for your little one but also for you.  We spoke to Katy Butterfield one of our Area Swim Development Managers about what you can expect from a adult and baby swim lesson and the benefits you will see.

Katy said; "Our adult and baby lessons encourage independent movements from babies including reaching, splashing and kicking and also help with hand-eye coordination.  Each 30 minute lesson encourages learning through fun and games with activities to inspire movement in a safe environment.

Physically, swimming for babies will help with strengthening the muscles in their neck, arms and legs, as well as helping to strengthen their lungs and heart.

Babies and adults will also benefit from the social aspect of the class.  Meeting like minded people with their little ones.  Maybe for some it could be getting ‘back out there’ and stepping back into the social circle with their new baby.  Babies will also benefit from the social side, meeting and playing with other children.

One of the most important lessons to be learnt from one of these classes is confidence in and around water.  The children will carry this with them all throughout life.  The earlier they gain confidence in the water, the safer they will be around water in the future.  These lessons will also help to prevent the fear of water and teach safety around water".
